Every now and then we come across a story, person or whatever the case may be about a certain situation gone wrong. It may not even end there and it is capable of getting worse before it progresses in a positive manner. Depending on what or how it got to that point, it is part of life’s transitions and the chances an individual decides to take. One such person that decided to gamble on life was Dagmar Andrades.
Born and raised in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, Dagmar was taken care of by her brother Saul after her mother passed away in 2000. Dagmar then made the decision to drop out of school shortly after. At the early age of nine she was diagnosed as bipolar. Depression was now settling in on her life. A year later, Dagmar returned to school and finished high school.
Throughout all of this occurring, she studied paralegal at the American Educational College in Bayamon and graduated with honors. For some reason Dagmar felt her life was unfulfilled. Soon after, Dagmar was involved in narcotics sales. It was around this time that Dagmar became a mother. She was in charge of a few drug points in Rio Piedras.
At one time or another, everything must come to an end. Drug dealing has probably the shortest career trade span. You will end up in a cell or casket unwillingly. The justice system caught up with Dagmar and she ended up being charged, prosecuted and incarcerated by the FBI. Because of her incarceration, Dagmar lost custody of her daughter, Isauleychka.
Isauleychka went on to stay with family. In jail is where Dagmar made a choice to turn everything around. There is where she returned to education and excelled in various programs. Dagmar became a modeled inmate. After she became eligible for parole, Dagmar won back the custody of her daughter Isauleychka. Losing her daughter almost broke her spirit.
After returning to Puerto Rico, Dagmar, her daughter and new boyfriend decided to live in Vega Alta. Dagmar’s boyfriend was a professional boxer. He needed a trainer and Dagmar took him to the Vega Alta Municipal boxing gym. At the gym is where she met trainer Dennis Pantoja who ran the gym and they struck a bond. The situation with Dagmar and her boyfriend after a couple of years was not heading in the right direction.
When Dagmar ended her relationship with her live-in boyfriend, she decided stay in Vega Alta. In Vega Alta she build great, strong friendships and Dagmar was not about to leave them behind. Dennis helped Dagmar after her tribulation and found her a place to stay among other things, after which she started calling him dad. Dennis let Dagmar help out with the fighters.
Soon after, she learned the sport good enough to become certified as a trainer and manager. And her new found success did not end there. Dagmar became a sales representative for Vixente Apparel. Vixente Apparel is a luxury clothing line for professional and amateur boxers. So it is safe to say that boxing helped Dagmar in many different avenues. Anyone can find themselves in a dark situation, but they can also climb, walk, or run out of it with an encouraging outcome. Dagmar visited hell and came back to earth in one piece.
