Rumors are rife in the boxing community that British superstar Amir "King" Khan has been giving the opportunity of a lifetime to face pound for pound king and multi-division champion Floyd Mayweather. Having been in talks over what seemed to be a near done deal with IBF champion Devon Alexander, talks have come to shuddering halt with disagreements on whether the bout should be held in Dubai or America.
Either way the breakdown in talks has seemed to favor the British fighter. Khan who has been involved in some of the most exciting fights of the past five years, has been longing for a shot at Mayweather and his turn seems to have finally come. There seems to be little opponents left for Mayweather to share a ring with. Showtime CEO Matthew C. Blank stated that he "likes" the Khan bout and that Floyd has been beating all the big punchers and household names.
Blanks also understands the threat Khan poses with his speed, something Mayweather hasn't faced in some years. Khan who is currently in training for his proposed bout with Alexander will remain in a long training camp in hope for his shot at Mayweather early next year. If such a bout was to happen it would be the biggest grossing fight that a British fighter would be involved in.
