Amway Center, Orlando, Florida - Miguel Cotto (38-4, 31 KOs) had to prove to the fans and most importantly to himself that he still had a few more good fights left in him. Cotto went to the body early on. A punch he had neglected in recent fights. Delvin Rodriguez (28-7-3, 16 KOs) retreated for most of the second round as Cotto stayed up-close landing left hooks.
A monster left hook by the Puerto Rican icon ended the contest in the third round. Cotto’s conditioning appeared to be superb and his legs had bounces. The move to Freddie Roach was a positive experimentation. A possible fight against middleweight champion Sergio Martinez could be in works.
