Juan Diaz Stops Cuevas In Comeback Fight

American Bank Center, Corpus Christi, Texas – Before a crowd of 3,200 fans, former lightweight king Juan Diaz (36-4, 18KOs) returned after more than two years away from the ring to stop Juan Diaz (15-10, 13 KOs) in the sixth round of action. Diaz came out swinging but he was rusty and at times appeared to be very rusty. Cuevas, the son of the former world champion by the same name, took a pound near the end of the contest and he was a bloody mess before the fight was stopped by referee Mark Calo-oy.

In the co-feature, junior lightweight Jerry Belmontes (18-1, 5 KOs) got an eight round majority decision victory over Daniel Diaz (19-5-1, 14 KOs).
